The "Atlantic"
The Central Pacific Railroad was famous as one of two railroads who built the first transcontinental railroad.  Accomplishing great feats of engineering to conquer the mountains of the west, the Central Pacific joined the tracks of the Union Pacific Railroad at Promontory Point, Utah in 1869.
This engine, the "Atlantic," was built by William Mason in 1863 and shipped to California where it served for many years, pulling passenger, freight and construction trains
