1864 Central Pacific RR 25' Wood Boxcar

The Central Pacific Railroad, one of the two companies racing to complete the first transcontinental railroad used a shorter, 25' 6" boxcar. However, its design was of the most modern type for its era and it featured the new Arch-bar style wood and metal truck. SMR's all-new model is of a typical CPRR boxcar featuring a metal-covered, angle roof, metal side ladders, authentic pin-and-link couplers and early-style arch-bar trucks. The short car length was better suited to that mountainous railroad.

1864 Central Pacific RR 25' - Sound and Control Wood Boxcar

Freedom of Choice
Built with the same attention to detail as SMR's regular CPRR 25' wood boxcar, these cars have been especially modified to allow our customers to install their choice of popular 3-rail electronics packages.

•  SMR engines are designed for easy operation using Lionel® or MTH® train operating systems, or any of several brands of sound units.
•  Each truck has a preinstalled, wired center-rail electrical pickup.
•  There are two preinstalled, wired slide switches.
•  Pre-cut openings on the underside of the car are provided for speakers, wire leads and switches.

1864 Central Pacific RR 30' Flatcar
The CPRR used its flatcars extensively during the construction of the transcontinental railroad. They were suitable for a great variety of tasks, moving equipment and construction material. SMR's all-new model is a standard CPRR 4-stake flatcar featuring early truss-rod support, authentic pin-and-link couplers and arch-bar trucks.
